What makes us Unique
The meaning of raphara
Our name is a unique fusion of the two biblical languages, bridging the Old and New Testaments to define our mission:
-
Rapha (Hebrew): From Jehovah Rapha—"The Lord Who Heals."
-
Chara (Greek): The word for "Joy," often used to describe the joy that comes from the Holy Spirit.

Together, Raphara represents our slogan: "Joy Through Healing."

We believe that health is not just the absence of disease; it is the presence of joy. True wellness should lead to flourishing—giving you the vitality to enjoy your family, serve your community, and live out your calling.
The story of the leaf
Our symbol—the fig leaf—is a reference to the very first attempt at "coverage" in human history.
In Genesis, after the fall, humanity felt shame and tried to hide by sewing fig leaves together. It was a flimsy, temporary fix that separated humans from God and each other. But God did not intend for us to live in hiding. He created us to be fully known and fully loved.

Why this matters for your care: Modern medicine often offers "fig leaves"—quick fixes and symptom management that cover the problem without healing the person.

At Raphara Health, we reject the temporary cover-up. We are committed to a model of care where you don't have to hide. We take the time to know the real you—your history, your fears, and your goals. We pray this model serves your health and our community's flourishing.
why we are public about our faith
In modern medicine, providers are often taught to keep faith separate from practice—to leave their worldview at the door. At Raphara Health, we believe this separation is artificial. Every healthcare provider operates from a worldview.
Whether secular or spiritual, a doctor's core beliefs inevitably shape how they view money, time, human value, and the ethics of life and death. These beliefs inform everything from how much time they spend with you to how they approach end-of-life care. We choose to be upfront about ours.

We share our Christian faith not to convert you, but to be transparent with you.
We want you to know exactly why we operate the way we do:
-
Why we are a nonprofit: Because we believe resources are to be stewarded, not hoarded.
-
Why we serve the uninsured: Because we believe every person bears the image of God and possesses inherent dignity.
-
Why we prioritize time: Because we believe you were created to be fully known, not rushed.
who we serve
At Raphara Health, we welcome patients from all backgrounds and beliefs.
While our practice is rooted in Christian faith and values, you don't need to share our convictions to receive excellent care from us.
