The meaning of raphara

Our name is a unique fusion of the two biblical languages, bridging the Old and New Testaments to define our mission:

  • Rapha (Hebrew): From Jehovah Rapha—"The Lord Who Heals."

  • Chara (Greek): The word for "Joy," often used to describe the joy that comes from the Holy Spirit.​

Together, Raphara represents our slogan: "Joy Through Healing."

We believe that health is not just the absence of disease; it is the presence of joy. True wellness should lead to flourishing—giving you the vitality to enjoy your family, serve your community, and live out your calling.

The story of the leaf

Our symbol—the fig leaf—is a reference to the very first attempt at "coverage" in human history.

 

In Genesis, after the fall, humanity felt shame and tried to hide by sewing fig leaves together. It was a flimsy, temporary fix that separated humans from God and each other. But God did not intend for us to live in hiding. He created us to be fully known and fully loved.

In modern medicine, providers are often taught to keep faith separate from practice—to leave their worldview at the door. At Raphara Health, we believe this separation is artificial. Every healthcare provider operates from a worldview. 

 

Whether secular or spiritual, a doctor's core beliefs inevitably shape how they view money, time, human value, and the ethics of life and death. These beliefs inform everything from how much time they spend with you to how they approach end-of-life care. We choose to be upfront about ours.
